These days, search engines should NOT be considered the one and only medium for potential customers or clients to find your website (this was the case a few years ago). Many more people are visiting sites having seen the web address in print or on another advertising meduim - most television and radio commercials now include their website addresses.
Here is a list to help you increase the amount of traffic to your website by using mostly non-Internet methods.
Make sure you include your web address on these suggested locations. Any place your web address can be made visible to the public will mean increased traffic to your site.
- Business cards (As simple as this sounds, it is often overlooked)
- Letterhead AND envelopes
- Personal brochures about you and your company
- Do you send a newsletter to your clients (either email or in print), include your web address.
- Add your web address to the signature tag of all email messages to no matter to whom they are sent, friends, family, colleagues, etc.
- At the end of your voicemail/answering machine message.
- Fax cover sheets (many people forget this one)
- Flyer on free local bulletin boards (supermarkets, post-offices, shopping centres etc.) Print a flyer detailing your web address and your company. Be sure to include your email address as well as your telephone number. Keep a supply in your car for handy access.
- Magnetic vehicle signs or signwritten (The most underrated form of advertising going).
- Neighborhood directories.
- Mouse mats(give one to your clients at Christmas or as part of a marketing campaign).
- Work shirts (Have the web address printed as well as the logo)
